In our latest Going Beyond blog post, our series that aims to show what it’s really like to work at Beyond, we spoke to Aaron Navarro to learn more about his experience at Beyond and building the Revenue Operations team.
Aaron is our Director of Revenue Operations, and below he discusses his journey to Beyond, his experience, and what he loves most about being part of our dynamic company.
What brought you to Beyond?
Before joining Beyond, I worked as a Revenue Management Analyst at an airline. The moment I saw what Beyond had created, I was instantly drawn to its cutting-edge approach—especially in an industry that had never experienced revenue management before. The opportunity to help property managers stand on equal footing with the industry’s biggest hospitality brands was too exciting to pass up. And once I met the team and got a real sense of the culture during my onboarding in San Francisco, I knew I’d found a place I could call home for a long time. Here I am, five years later, feeling every bit as energized and motivated as on my very first day.
How long have you been at Beyond and what is your role?
I’ve been with Beyond for a bit over five years and currently serve as the Director of Revenue Operations & Business Intelligence.
Tell us about your career path at Beyond, which roles have you held?
I’ve been at Beyond for a long time, and I worked across Product, Data, and Operations—a journey that’s fueled both professional and personal growth. I joined in 2019 as a Revenue Management Analyst and was the third employee in our Barcelona office. Three months later, the pandemic hit, and I found myself on my own in Barcelona for nearly a year. After that challenging stretch, I became part of the founding EMEA team and we began growing our Barcelona team into the nearly 40-person group we are today.
During this period, I moved up within Revenue Management—first as a Senior Analyst, then as a Lead Analyst. Next, I seized the chance to become Business Intelligence Manager, where I built our BI department, establishing the processes, people, and tools that reshaped how Beyond uses data in its day-to-day operations and strategy.
This journey brought me to my current role as Director of Revenue Operations & Business Intelligence, where I had the privilege of rebuilding our Operations team from scratch. Today, I work closely with our go-to-market teams to maximize our most valuable asset—our people. Together, we craft scalable processes, deploy cutting-edge GTM technologies, and leverage data-driven insights to shape strategy, drive revenue growth, and enhance the way we serve our customers.
Since taking on the role as Director of Revenue Operations, how many people have you hired for your team?
When I joined Revenue Operations, it was right on the heels of a major transition, and the team needed rebuilding from the ground up. Fortunately, we already had a fantastic Program Manager who helped me assemble a truly formidable group. We’ve hired six external candidates and transitioned one internal role to create a global team that now spans the US and EMEA, representing five nationalities and a range of roles, including Program Managers, RevOps and BI Analysts, and System Admins. Looking ahead, we’re preparing to open two additional positions, with the goal of expanding to a ten-member team by year’s end.
What has been the most challenging and rewarding part of building this team?
Building a department from the ground up is no small feat—especially when your work reshapes how other teams operate and depends on complex system integrations and data from multiple sources. It demands a clear sense of how every piece connects, along with the ability to win over stakeholders and show them that new workflows will actually make their lives easier and improve their performance in the long run. Sometimes, that means not just changing how your own team functions, but also steering other departments to adapt and trust your plan.
A big part of the challenge is finding the right people who can not only design and execute from a business perspective but also think like IT. That’s why we manually review all applicants, and I personally checked more than 500 CVs in the past year, ensuring our new hires bring both the technical depth and the soft skills needed to represent our core values: “We Care, We Go Beyond, We Are On The Same Team, We Inspire Trust, We Ship It and We Are Curious.” In this function, nothing is ever just someone else’s problem—we can do anything, but we can’t do everything alone. So making sure we have the right mix of expertise and teamwork is critical.
The most rewarding part has been watching the team come together, grow, and develop into experts on ideas I initially only sketched out. We’re also gearing up for our first full-team meetup which will be the first time all of us gathers under one roof. Watching this department evolve from a spark of an idea to a real, thriving team is incredibly fulfilling.
What are you most excited about for the future?
I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead for both my team and the company as a whole. AI has opened up an entirely new realm of possibilities—not just at the product level, but also in how we operate behind the scenes. I’m amazed at how quickly we’re scaling and refining our processes. The Revenue Operations & BI teams have fully hit their stride, owning their functions and significantly improving and consolidating our workflows. By shifting from a reactive, tactical approach to a proactive, strategic mindset, we’ve unlocked a whole new set of opportunities.
I believe that as a company, we’re in a remarkably strong position to keep succeeding during the next few years. Our product continues to evolve like no other, and our engineering and data teams truly set the bar for excellence. At Beyond, we’re not just keeping pace with industry trends; we’re shaping them. Being part of such a cutting-edge solution in this industry is both fascinating and exhilarating.
What is your favorite part about working at Beyond?
Candidates often ask me this question, and my answer is always the same: at Beyond, you have the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact and witness the results firsthand.
We foster a culture that values innovation, encourages bold ideas, and embraces change. We act quickly—launching, iterating, and improving—and it’s amazing to see how swiftly your efforts can drive change, both within the company and in how we help our clients grow their revenue.
For me, the most rewarding part is the constant challenge to find new strategies that push us forward, even by just 1% each day. The real satisfaction comes from seeing that progress—often remarkably fast—and that’s undoubtedly what I love most about working at Beyond.
