In our latest Going Beyond blog post, our series that aims to show what it’s really like to work at Beyond, we spoke to Ravi Sharma to learn more about his experience leading our Host Sales team and growing his career with Beyond.
Ravi is the Head of Commercial Sales, and discusses his journey to Beyond, his experience, and what he loves most about being part of our dynamic company.
What is your role at Beyond?
At Beyond, I lead and drive the host sales function towards achieving our revenue and growth objectives. I work closely with our Host Sales consultants to develop and execute sales strategies that help our customers maximise their revenue and occupancy from their vacation rental business. This involves understanding the customer’s unique needs, staying up to date with our customer’s market, and ensuring that our pricing technique helps them make the most money.
I also collaborate with other departments within the company, such as product development and Engineering, to ensure that we're continually improving our offerings and providing the best possible service to our customers.
What was your experience before joining and what attracted you to Beyond?
Prior to joining Beyond I worked at a Fintech Saas organization and, similar to my current role, I was leading a team of sales professionals responsible for advising and onboarding startup customers. What attracted me to join Beyond was a combination of my admiration for the product and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our host business.
Beyond is the leading player in the vacation rental revenue management space, and I loved how the design was easy for customers to onboard, deploy, and see return of investment. I am excited by the idea of building and growing a dedicated unit to onboard and support our small business owners.
How has your team grown since January? Is it still growing?
The team got onboard really fast and is already advising and onboarding hundreds of customers each month while receiving excellent feedback! In the first batch, we onboarded a team of 4 smart sales professionals who completed their training within a month and have helped scale operations for the team.
There’s a lot of opportunity for us to continue to be available for our customers globally and so yes we’re looking to duplicate the success by adding more team members and expanding our coverage and availability for customers.
What are you most excited about with the future of Beyond?
I am very excited about the future of Beyond for several reasons but the most important to me is the product innovation. Just in the 6 months I have been here, I have seen amazing new modules like the Insights Pro, Tally, and Market Insights launched for our customers. I am amazed by the speed at which we are adding more power to customers’ businesses!!
Additionally, every day I see the team at Beyond, regardless of departments, come together to solve common challenges and truly demonstrate our core values. This is another reason why I am excited about the future and i am confident we will succeed.
How do you think expanding to India will help Beyond’s growth?
We are already a global company because our customers are located all around the world and having a team in India helps with increasing our availability for our customers. India is a major IT ecosystem with a very huge talent pool of smart professionals for tech organizations and that makes a perfect match for the speed for Beyond’s growth.
What is your favorite part about working at Beyond?
The diverse team! Every day I get to interact and work with smart people from around the world, exchange perspectives, and learn new things. This global exposure with our collaborative model of working makes this organization truly unique.
