Since starting at Beyond in September of 2021, Daria Rios has become an expert in the vacation rental industry. As a Revenue Management Analyst, Daria works every day to expand Beyond’s products to new markets around the world and ensure that customers can price their rentals with confidence.
In our latest Going Beyond blog post, our series that aims to show what it’s really like to work at Beyond, we spoke to Daria to learn more about her experience growing her career on Beyond’s Revenue Management team.
What’s It Like to Work at Beyond?
Coming from a larger corporate company, Beyond couldn’t be more different – in the best way! When I was looking to move on from that larger company, I was looking for a company with great employee reviews on sites like Glassdoor and where employees are recognized for their accomplishments. I definitely found that at Beyond. I really appreciate the close, tight-knit community here.
How is Working at Beyond Different?
At Beyond, my team – and the whole company – are always open to improving. If a process is taking a long time or is not efficient, we find a new, better way. On the Revenue Management team, this mindset is critical. It’s easy to get bogged down in manual tasks in this role, so we rely on a lot of automations that make our jobs easier and more efficient.
I also really enjoy the autonomy and input I have in my role. I have a lot more power in this position compared to the previous companies I worked for, and I can see the direct success of my decisions.
What’s It Like To Work on The Revenue Management Team?
As a Revenue Analyst, I work with my team to launch new markets, review market pricing for customers, help with onboarding new customers, and work with different teams across the company. We are a very hands-on, proactive team. For our customers, that means we tweak prices often, review base prices and bookings, and ensure that they are supported and have what they need to feel confident in their pricing. We also provide reporting for our Customer Experience and Sales Teams that include market data to show why Beyond’s algorithm is more accurate. We are very invested in ensuring our customers are happy.
Our team works to expand Beyond’s reach and product to the rest of the world, so we are always finding and launching new markets.
How Does Your Team Launch New Markets for Beyond?
First, we identify an area or market where we see lots of vacation rental listings – we put a lot of time into ensuring we have the right area. Then we scrape data from sources like Airbnb and other vacation rental sites. Once we have the data, we go through it entirely and research factors, like local events in the market and national events in that country, that will affect pricing. We also check on seasonality and other factors that define this market. Then, if possible, we break down the market further into hyper-local clusters. For example, if there is a suburb and a downtown area in a market, we’ll separate those two clusters to see how pricing is different. It’s a 2-3 week process for each market, so it’s a huge accomplishment when we complete a whole country. We’re about 80% done with the whole world!
Overall, What is Your Favorite Part About Working at Beyond?
Overall, I really enjoy working on the Revenue Management team. Everyone on the team is genuine, hardworking, and so helpful. Being on this team has grown my confidence, and my manager is always supportive and encouraging me to grow my skills and career.
