Going Beyond with Fiona Darmali

Meet Fiona Darmali, Billing Manager at Beyond Pricing. Learn about her career journey, growth at Beyond, and what makes our remote-first culture special.

In our latest Going Beyond blog post, our series that aims to show what it’s really like to work at Beyond, we spoke to Fiona Darmali to learn more about her experience at Beyond.

Fiona is our Billing Manager, and below she discusses her journey to Beyond, her experience, and what she loves most about being part of our dynamic company.

What brought you to Beyond?

Like many people before the pandemic, I was fully in-office. The pandemic showed me that I was just as productive at home and that I really enjoyed the remote work lifestyle. When my previous employer started to return to the office full-time, I started my job hunt.

I worked at a commercial real estate developer in Chicago and knew I wanted to stay somewhat connected to real estate. I found a Billing Analyst position at Beyond on LinkedIn, and I was contacted by our Lead Recruiter, Brooke, shortly after applying.

The true selling point was the conversations I had during my interview process. I felt like I connected with each person I talked to and that they truly cared about who they selected for this role. Beyond was beginning their journey of creating a Finance team, and this role would be their second hire behind the VP of Finance. I loved the idea of building something and creating processes of my own. I have always worked at small companies (Beyond being the biggest), and this role seemed like the perfect opportunity to grow a company and my career at the same time.

How long have you been at Beyond, and what is your role?

I have been at Beyond for 4.5 years.

I have now held three different positions: first as Billing Analyst, then Senior Billing Analyst, and now I am the Billing Manager where I oversee all billing functions globally. In short, this includes preparing invoices, resolving billing issues, managing customer accounts, ensuring timely payments, and being in lock step with our Billing Analyst and the rest of the Finance team. This also includes working with almost all teams across the org and advocating for billing improvements for the user experience and reporting.

What does a typical day look like for you as Billing Manager?

Every day is different, but it usually revolves around managing priorities from colleagues and clients. As one of our core values says, We Care. It doesn’t matter if you have one listing or 500, you have a direct line of communication with Beyond’s billing team. A typical day will include:

- Working with customers for payment questions and finding solutions that work for all parties.

- Manually billing our “special case” customers, who need a little more TLC than what our automatic billing system can provide.

- Setting up billing for newly contracted accounts

- Ensuring alignment from CFO > Billing Analyst. The ripple effect that billing has on financials and reporting makes it imperative that everyone is in the loop, from new initiatives launching to the inevitable billing bug.

Tell us about your career path at Beyond. Which roles have you held?

When I started at Beyond as a Billing Analyst, my direct manager was on maternity leave, so I was the sole member of finance for a few weeks until our Director of Accounting joined Beyond. Now we are a team of 8 spread across Finance, Accounting, and Billing. It was a whirlwind start, but I trusted the process and couldn’t be happier.

I then worked my way to Senior Billing Analyst, and was promoted to my current role, Billing Manager, last October. Today, I help oversee other billing team members and guide the future of billing at Beyond.

Overall, my manager knew I had goals, and they helped me step outside my comfort zone and build the confidence I needed to grow at Beyond.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone joining the team today, what would it be?

Our billing system is really complex and can be overwhelming when learning all the nuances. If someone was joining the team today, I would say, ask questions and don’t be afraid to not know everything yet. Be curious and enjoy the ride!

How does your work help support other teams across the company?

I work closely with many teams at Beyond. We work hard supporting a strong, scalable business that colleagues can trust. We dig into the details so our go-to-market teams can focus on the big picture. Whether we’re sorting out a customer billing problem or advocating for billing improvements, we have other teams in mind to help billing run smoothly and not be a reason for concern for our customers.

What are you most excited about for the future?

I am most excited about Beyond’s growth. The growth I’ve seen over 4.5 years is amazing, and we had a great 2025. I’m excited to bring that momentum into 2026 and see what our team can accomplish. From expanding our presence globally to launching new products… the sky's the limit!

What is your favorite part about working at Beyond?

The culture! The people here have built an amazing culture, which is even more impressive given that we are a remote-friendly company. There are always events and friendly competitions for people to participate in. I know my manager and colleagues truly care and trust each other, and I find that really special.

Our Going Beyond series aims to pull back the curtain and show what it’s really like to work at Beyond. Our five core values provide structure for our company decisions, interactions, and work: We Care, We Go Beyond, We Are On The Same Team, We Inspire Trust and We Ship It. If these values resonate with you, then you belong at Beyond too! Check out our careers page for more information and to see open positions: https://www.beyondpricing.com/about/careers
