Laia is our Team Lead of Business Intelligence, and below she discusses her journey to Beyond, her experience, and what she loves most about being part of our dynamic company.

What brought you to Beyond?

I was initially contacted directly by Aaron, our Director of Revenue Operations, who introduced me to a really exciting opportunity: building Beyond’s Business Intelligence infrastructure and visualizations from the ground up as the first BI hire. The idea of being able to shape the foundation of the BI function, rather than stepping into a fully established system, was a big motivator for me. It felt like a chance to challenge myself and work on something completely new.

At the time, I didn’t know much about Beyond, and it was definitely a leap coming from a large, stable enterprise company, but the challenge really appealed to me. And honestly, meeting the team during the hiring process made the decision even easier. Sharing lunch, getting to know the culture, and feeling the energy of the people here convinced me that Beyond was the right place for me.

How long have you been at Beyond, and what is your role?

I’ve been at Beyond for two years now, and I’m the Team Lead for Business Intelligence. In short, my world revolves around data, collecting it, standardizing it, and analyzing it. My team and I bring data together from different sources, transform it into something consistent and reliable, and turn it into insights that help teams across the company make informed decisions.

Tell us about your career path at Beyond, which roles have you held? 

I joined Beyond as a Senior BI Analyst at a time when the BI “team” was essentially just our Director of Revenue Operations, who had built everything we had on his own. There wasn’t much of a formal team yet, just the two of us in BI, alongside a couple other colleagues who joined around the same time in Operations.

Since then, the team has grown incredibly fast. Today, we’re eight people in Operations and three in Business Intelligence, soon to be four as we bring in a new team member.

From my starting point as a Senior BI Analyst, I moved into the Team Lead role, where I now lead all BI initiatives and own the strategy, development, and delivery of our data solutions. It’s been exciting to help build the BI function from the ground up and watch the wider team grow alongside it.

What has been the most challenging and rewarding part of your role? 

One of the biggest challenges has been managing the volume of work and requests coming from all departments. Beyond is a very data driven organization that relies on data to drive business decisions, which means we are a very in demand team! Balancing priorities and ensuring we continue delivering high-quality insights is always a bit of a challenge.

 

On the other hand, that high demand also highlights how impactful our work is. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how data supports teams in making informed decisions and to hear their positive feedback. Knowing that our work is valued and directly contributes to better outcomes creates a virtuous cycle: teams trust us more, rely on us more, and we get to see the tangible impact of what we do.

What are you most excited about for the future? 

I’m most excited about the growth and evolution of the BI team. When I joined, it was just Aaron and I, and a year ago, we brought another team member on board. Now we’re opening a new role for the team, which is a huge milestone.

Seeing the department expand is exciting because it allows us to better support the business, take on more strategic initiatives, and adapt more effectively to the company’s needs. I’m really looking forward to being part of shaping that next stage of development.

What is your favorite part about working at Beyond? 

This one is easy: the people. Both inside and outside my team. There’s a genuine culture of helping one another and relying on each other’s expertise. Knowing that I can always reach out to anyone to ask questions, clarify doubts, or get support makes a huge difference.


Not only does it help me do my job better, but it also creates strong bonds across teams. I get to collaborate with so many different people and learn from them every day, and that’s truly my favorite part of working at Beyond.
